Grow Hair Long for A Purpose

As a busy working mom with a young son, I’ve been always wear my hair short for many years.
Two years ago, my son joined Cub Scout. There was a little girl whose brother was in the same den with my son. Every time when I saw her at Cub Scout events, she always had her long blonde hair braided beautifully. One day around Christmas, I was very surprised seeing her in short hair. I met her mother and expressed my curiosity.
Her mother told me proudly that her daughter just had her hair donated to Locks of Love! To reach the minimum length of 10″, the little girl had her hair grown for two years and had the hair braided all the time when it became difficult to manage. I was so moved by the little girl and her mother.
I was pregnant with my second baby and had a shoulder length hair at that time. I told myself that I can do it too! I also hope that I can share this experience with my baby in the future.
After growing my hair long for almost two years, I’ll cut my hair and donate it to Locks of Love this July.
Here are some tips I would like to share with you if you are also in the process of growing your hair long.
- The most important tip is eat healthy and rest well. Hair needs nutrients and needs to be taken care of like any other living things.
- Next, no color and perm. Any chemical treatment will destroy the natural beauty of the texture of your hair.
- Last but not the least, if you do need to style your hair, choose the best hair products. I only use handful of products to style my hair occasionally. Here they are:
