The Baking Soda Hair Cleanse

Lauren reporting.

So, recently, I noticed that all the different products I use to tame my hair, and make it shine, started to build up on my head after a while. It was an awful feeling. My hair would look greasy right after I washed it! This had never happened to me before so I did some online investigating into homemade remedies – hoping to find something I already had in my house. My big discovery was (drum roll) Baking Soda! Baking soda (also known as Sodium Bicarbonate) has so many talents.

I didn’t follow any particular set of directions. Instead, I combined a few directions to make my own. Here is the routine:

  1. Warm up a cup of water in the microwave
  2. Dissolve a tablespoon or so of baking soda in the warm water
  3. Shampoo hair as usual
  4. Pour warm baking soda water over your head (Concentrate the mixture on your scalp, if your ends are dry)
  5. Rinse it out thoroughly
  6. Follow with a little conditioner
  7. End the rinse with cool water

I only tried this once, but it really worked! My scalp wasn’t greasy and my ends weren’t dry!  Maybe I’ll consider trying this treatment once a month or maybe I’ll invest in a detox shampoo. Abba Pure Detox Shampoo contains baking soda.

I also came across apple cider vinegar as a good remedy, but I was too chicken to try it out. I’d probably prefer to try Frederick Fekkai’s Apple Cider Clarifying Shampoo. I’m sure Fekkai makes it smell yummy.

Lots ‘n lots more clarifying shampoos.
